Happy Birthday Dad!

My dad turned 60 yrs. old on the 27th. I've been teasing him that we were going to put a picture of him in the Beaver County Journal (our local newspaper). He wasn't too fond of that idea so I guess my blog will have to do. Annie had a cheer competition in St. George so we went to that then we went to Jer and Marcy's to hang out. Jer is a coach for Dixie State Baseball so we went to their games that afternoon. They played the Academy of the Arts University (you can probably guess who won LOL). Then we went back to their house for a BBQ and cake and ice cream. It was so much fun! The weather was perfect and the food even better:) We hope you had a great birthday Grandpa/Dad!! We love you!!!

Spectrum 10K

Here is the latest run I participated in. The Spectrum 10K. It was on March 20th at 9am. It began in Snow Canyon and ended at the Ivins city park. It was downhill most of the way and the scenery was BEAUTIFUL!! That really helped my out-of-shape body enjoy this race:) My time was 1:12:43, which obviously isn't very fast, but I don't know a Thomas that IS very fast. (J/K that is kindof a family joke of ours)Now most of you will be asking yourself, "Why would she put that chubby picture of herself on her blog???". Well, when I saw this picture I realized WHY I am running, LOL.

P.S. The girl next to me (Joyce), is 20 weeks pregnant with her 4th boy!! Can you believe it?! I met her on the bus when they shuttled us to the starting line. I'm glad we met, she was great company.

Lake to Lake Relay

On March 6, some friends and I participated in a 50-mile relay race. It went from Gunlock Reservoir to Sandhollow Reservoir. It was really fun! And since doing this race, several people said they would be interested in doing something like this (where were they when we were trying to think of who would have TIME and actually WANT to do this??). I have never done anything like this and I hope to continue to get in shape and be able to participate in more races. It was pretty discouraging at first because my family repeatedly laughed at me when I told them what I was doing. In fact, after the race, my dad did mention that he was shocked that I was able to do it (thanks for the confidence:). By the way, there is a half-marathon in Beaver this summer so if you are interested let me know. It sounds crazy...but fun right?!

I am not particularly fond of this picture of me,

but it is the only one I have that actually proves I participated:)

My family...thanks for coming down!

Even though you didn't have much confidence in me, it was nice to know someone was there waiting for me (and not just to give me a ride to the next leg LOL).

And our team-"RUNNING ON EMPTY"

(boy that name was perfect for me LOL)
